FAO’s Hand-in-Hand Initiative Investment Forum as part of the World Food Forum 2026
Last week, Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) held the annual Hand-in-Hand Initiative Investment Forum at their headquarters in Rome as part of the World Food Forum. The four-day event connected government representatives, private companies, development banks and foundation to build partnerships with the aim of strengthening value chains, increasing productivity and improving livelihoods. This platform allows countries to present their investment priorities and discuss how these can be addressed through partnerships to accelerate agrifood systems transformation for the Sustainable Development Goals.
38 countries and five regional initiatives presented a record $20.16 billion in proposed agrifood investments on the opening day of the forum with these investments targeting some of the most vulnerable communities in the world. The investments spanned staple crops, livestock, fisheries, coffee and cocoa.
Agrium Capital’s CEO, Rod Bassett, was invited as a expert panelist for ‘Livestock transformation pathways – Investing in better nutrition, stronger livelihoods, and climate-resilient growth’. This explored how investments can help build more resilient livestock systems despite new challenges such as growing demand, climate pressures and gaps in infrastructure, technology and market access.
This was an invaluable opportunity for Agrium Capital to join the conversation on how collaboration can help unlock agricultural investment opportunities and support the development of more resilient and inclusive agrifood systems.
